The Foot Care Blog

The summer is fast approaching and with the hot weather out feet tend to swell and this can cause certain problems for us, such as: blistering, varicose veins, callus formation, and dry cracked heels.

Please take extra precaution when spending the day out and and about by wringing, soft-soled, comfortable shoes with wider toe box and minimal seems in the front of the shoe.

Try to avoid wearing flip-flops when walking around on the concrete as they do not have any support and can cause future pathology. If any of these issues occur, do not wait, and come see us at Hamilton Podiatry for the best podiatric care in brooklyn and manhattan.

Spring is here and so is the warm weather. This is the time when we wear open toe shoes, sandals, and flip-flops. But we need to be extra cautious when hitting the streets of NYC wearing that type of footwear.  Understand, that the pavement in New York is not very forgiving and our feet will feel the pain.  Unless, you take a proactive approach to maintenance and care.

There are many ways you can prevent chronic discomfort in your step, from something simple like being conscious of what you put on your feet.  You should make sure to wear shoes with a soft sole and moderate arch support. If your shoe's are not sized appropriately, then your toes will be cramped inside the front of the shoe and your heel will not absorb shock properly, causing unnecessary pressure points, which can eventually lead to blisters, callous, and heel pain.  This can lead to something a bit more involved down the road, such as bunions, hammertoes, and plantar fasciitis.

Please take care of your feet and they'll love you for it.

If you live or are visiting the NY area, please feel free to contact Hamilton Podiatry's Manhattan or Brooklyn office for advice and a professional consultation.
